Volunteers are a crucial part of serving clients and residents, and making Baptist Care (SA) operate. Without volunteers we could not reach the many people we do each day.
Volunteering in Westcare
Volunteers play a vital part in our Westcare Team in Wright Street Adelaide. Westcare has many programs including Adult housing, Arts Centre, Day Centre, and Aboriginal Services.

Reception / Administration Assistant
We are seeking volunteers to assist in Reception duties between 9:00am and 2:00pm, or help with administration duties, or assist with Welfare appointments and providing overnight food parcels.
Food Services Assistant
We are seeking Volunteers to assist in the kitchen where you will prepare a 3 course meal. Volunteers are also required to help serve the meal and clean up the kitchen & the Day Centre afterwards.
Cleaning Assistant
We are seeking Volunteers to assist in performing general office cleaning duties around Westcare, including washing dishes, vacuming, emptying bins, wiping down desks, and other cleaning duties.
Volunteering in Youth Care
Volunteer Mentors
CrossRoads and SASH Youthcare programs provide supported accommodation to homeless young people. We are currently seeking Volunteer Mentors to take part in our Pilot Mentoring Program, working one on one with our young people. As Volunteer Mentor, you will engage young people in activities such as:
- Coffee and a chat
- Walk on the beach and Fishing
- Support to navigate the public transport system and access other facilities
- Support to link into social and recreational programs including youth, art, music and sports groups
- Tutoring: educational (particularly for clients from refugee background), art, craft and music
- Modeling of positive behaviours and lifestyles
- Opportunities to develop relationships which offer sustainable support to young people
- Other activities depending on the needs and interests of the young person and skills and interests of the mentor
You will work on specific programs and projects with small groups of young people including developing an organic sustainable vegetable garden and supporting occasional group social outings or camps. As a Volunteer Mentor you will be provided with training, support and briefing, and opportunities to develop new skills.
To become a Volunteer Mentor you will attend a short interview and have or be willing to obtain a National Police Certificate at no cost to you.
