Emergency Care

Short-term Emergency Care services are provided for children who are newly born up to the age of 17. These are children who have been identified and assessed by Families SA as being at risk in their current home and have been removed from their parents/guardians. Baptist Care provides them with accommodation in a home environment setting, where they are looked after by carers working on a 24/7 roster.

The program provides therapeutic care for individual children and also sibling groups. High levels of care and supervision are in place where one child resides at the property and depending on the ages of the children in a sibling group there may be more than one carer.

The therapeutic care model focuses on children’s strengths and provides them with a supportive and nurturing environment. They are given opportunities to learn and practice skills that will assist them to make better choices for themselves for more positive outcomes.
