Working For Recovery
Disability Employment Services – Mental Health
We know that 1 in 5 Australian adults will experience mental health problems and less than 40% of those people will access assistance. Without treatment and services the consequences for individuals with mental health illnesses can be devastating.
That’s why, we believe that with the right mix of early identification, appropriate treatment and support, people with mental health illness make valuable contributions to the community and have an active and rewarding part to play in employment settings.
At Baptist Care (SA) Inc. we believe that the mental health of our community is paramount and forms the foundations for effective functioning. We feel that it is everyone’s responsibility to understand, accept and support people experiencing mental health illnesses.
What is Working For Recovery?
Working for Recovery is part of the Australian Governments new and improved Disability Employment Service (visit www.deewr.gov.au/DES for more information about DES).
Working For Recovery is aimed at supporting people who experience mental health difficulties to mange illness and to find and maintain suitable employment. We work with members of our community who live in the eastern employment services area.
As part of this program, we are also committed to working closely with employers. Providing support and education packages to enable employers to facilitate the recruitment and retention of people experiencing mental health difficulties in the workplace.
We also aim to work collaboratively within school settings to support individuals in identifying pathways to enable achievement of higher education and moving towards positive employment placement.
